Enduring Freedom Dinner

A Celebration of Your Servic

Post 10 will be hosting a special commemorative on Sunday Oct 9, 2022 at Memories Ballroom near Marathon City called “Enduring Freedom Dinner”. In the past we have paid respect to our WWII, Korean and Vietnam era veterans. With this event, we will acknowledge all those who served during the Cold War, Lebanon-Grenada, Panama and War on Terrorism eras. We’re also inviting all who have joined our Post in the last 5 years to attend the dinner as well.

Those members listed above along with a guest are welcome to attend. Music, special speakers, displays and an Honor Guard salute will be provided. There will be no charge for the meal but RSVPs are required. Invitations will be sent out in late August or early September. We are using the National data base that provides a listing of what eras you have served. If you do not receive an invitation, please contact the Post or our Adjutant at 715-574-1882.

In addition, we’re always looking for new members.  If you know of any veterans who may be interested in joining our Post, there will be a form sent with your invitation asking for names and addresses of local veterans.  If you include the name and correct address of a veteran, we will send an invitation to them to join us for dinner too. If you have an interesting picture or artifacts from your particular era and would be willing to have them on display, please call the Post at the number listed above.

Please mark the date and plan on attending. We look forward to meeting many of our members for an afternoon of enjoyment and fellowship.

Enduring Freedom Committee.

Post 10 Vehicle Is Used for Honor Guard  & General Use

Our post purchased a Ram 1500 SLT Club Cab vehicle from Brickner's Wausau to transport the rifles and flags to each Military Honors ceremony performed by our Honor Guard. It will be used to pull a trailer in parades as well as transport items to various event we host.

Detailing of logos and lettering was done by FlipSide Graphics.  Additional updates and photo shots will be done with the Honor Guard in the near future.  Additional details will be in the February Monthly Update, listing the donors, plus more about the details how the truck bed will be outfitted.  All ideas are welcome.

Gift Ideas - The Legion Can Help

Give Kwik Trip Gas Cards

An easy way to get practical gifts for those that are on the move, need their car refueled, or pick up a quick bite or drink at the local Kwik Trip.  The Wausau American Legion Post 10 purchases the cards at 10% off actual cost. The Post sells them to anyone, netting the difference for fundraising or operational support.

Many of us, or those you know, already shop at Kwik Trip for gas, food, coffee and other products inside the store. You can purchase the cards and use them yourself or for gifts. Cards are $25.00 each. Your checks are made out to American Legion Post 10 and marked as gas cards. The 10% we receive from the sale of each card adds up fast.

It’s easy to get cards, just call Adjutant Dennis, at 715-574-1882 or email at adjutant@wausaupost10.com to request your cards.  Pick up arrangements are done in a safe enviroment.

It’s easy, it’s convenient, and it helps us to fulfill our motto… “Veterans still serving Veterans

New Law Creates 988 Suicide Hotline

Press “1” after dialing "988" to be routed to the Veterans Crisis Line

Legislation designating a three-digit phone number for a national suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline has been signed into law.

The National Suicide Hotline Designation Act directs the FCC to designate 988 for the National Suicide Prevention Line and allows veterans to press “1” after dialing 988 to be routed automatically to the Veterans Crisis Line for veteran-specific mental health support.

“The whole message is ‘Be there for a veteran,’” said Dr. Bert Berger, manager of the Mental Health Division at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center. “It’s really about making that connection, about being able to talk and provide support.”

BeThereWis.com provides quick and easy access to online resources and contact information. The task force is the coalition behind the website and ongoing initiatives, bringing together organizations that serve Veterans and nonprofits focused on suicide prevention.
