 Marathon County's Veterans Service Officer

Jill Geoffroy

To all Veterans and Their Families,

I am extremely excited to join the Marathon County team as the Veterans Service Officer. I’d like to take this opportunity to share a little bit about myself, both professionally and personally. I look forward to learning my new position and meeting the people I will be working with throughout the county and state in my new capacity.

My 22-year career as a State of Wisconsin employee includes working for the Department of Veterans Affair and Department of Transportation. My most recent position was as the Adjutant (Institution Manager Services Director) at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, where over 900 staff work to support the 500 plus Veterans who live there. I managed all service support functions for our 270-acre campus. My responsibilities included annual operating budget, policy and procedure design and implementation, leadership and long-term planning for future projects, as well as daily operational oversight for Food and Dining Services, Power Plant/ Water Operations, Grounds and Building Maintenance, Emergency Services, Housekeeping and Laundry Services, Resident Transportation and Activities/Events.

I received my commission in the U.S. Army in 1991 and retired at the rank of Major in 2013. Throughout my military career I served in various positions to include Aeromedical Evacuation Pilot, Platoon Leader, Unit Commander, Safety Officer, and Aviation Liaison Officer.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree from UW-LaCrosse and a Master’s Degree in Management from Cardinal Stritch University. I’m married to my husband, Alan, who is on his 34th year of service in the U.S. Army. He is the Aircraft Mechanic Supervisor at the Wisconsin Army Aviation Support Facility in West Bend, WI. Combined we have four children and two grandchildren. We are very active and enjoy hunting, hiking and training our two dogs. We live in Eagle River, WI on the chain of lakes and enjoy spending our weekends with family and friends boating, fishing and kayaking.

I’m truly honored to be able to serve our citizens as the Veterans Service Officer. My goal is to improve the quality of life for all Veterans and their families who live in Marathon County through exceptional customer service and connecting them with support and services for which they are eligible to receive.

I will be starting on Monday, March 23rd. My office is located at 212 River Drive, Suite 1 in Wausau and I can be reached at jill.geoffroy@co.marathon,wi.us or 715.261.1141
